What kind of poster board do you use? I am running into a problem where I can only find one size, and they are big, for glossy poster board. Any suggestions on where to get the smaller glossy sheets? Or anything elce that might come to mind?

Buy the bigger sheets...Usually cheaper.   I cut them into 4 pieces, which equal an 11X14 piece each..   msb1110

This is the most popular subject question in all the spray art forums. As a rule of thumb if you can see your reflection in it you can paint on it. As far as size goes, bigger is better if you feel comfortable filling the canvas.

well I dont have any problems working on the 22 x 28's I just feel that it would be more cost effective and benificial working on something smaller to practice on.

I think you're right as far as using smaller pieces to practice on... there's no need having a huge space to try and fill when you're still just trying to figure out techniques and styles.  But I agree with "msb1110" that buying the bigger sheets and then cutting them down would probably be more cost effective.  I dunno --  I get a 5-pack of 11x14 posterboard from Walgreens for $1.99 (or less) and I think that's pretty cost-effective for me.

I still have a lot to learn... but I'm trying!

I get 22 x 28 sheets at about 50 cents per. But I have to drive all the way across town to get them, so it might be more cost effective to find a local walgreens or something. But then again, if I buy in bulk, I save a bundle.

Greetings! Im brand new to this, but for what it's worth...I just bought an 8-pack of glossy poster sheets for $2.45 which measure 11x14. Wal-Mart just off of I-15, next to Frys in San Diego.

Wow... I gotta say this is a good topic for new guys to read. As getting the wrong paper realy SCREWS up the outcome of the image.

Those of you that are getting your paper from Walmart, Please be weary of what you are getting. I have searched every store around and the only place I can find the correct paper is WalGREENS.

The crap that WalMART has is not glossy. What your looking for in your poster board is the paper NOT to absorb the paint. It needs to stay on the surface of the poster board.

I have bought and tried from walmart, hobby lobby, office depto, office max, pamida, dollar general and the only place that has the good stuff is WALGREENS. This is such an issue that I buy them out when I go. Last time I bought 78 22x28 sheets.

To those of you that are not sure... turn your peice over when working it and see if you can see bleeding paint... make sure you dont... if you do then your working to hard for a painting that isnt goingt to turn out.

Any one want.... I can buy and cut up the poster board, and send it out to you guys..... for a small fee..lol

I have been buying my poster board at Kmart for the last two years it is very thick and untill recently it was glossy on both sides. It is called "premium poster board" and is from .89 to .99 depending on the store, they also have regular kind also for .69, but it is worth the few cents more for the good stuff.

I am now offering poster board to those who need it. Ill charge a fair price with no intent of making a huge profit from my MSP friends. Let me know If anyone needs some and we'll work something out.
